27417 - Spanish Economy
Compulsory
1. General information
The objective of this subject is to analyse the evolution and current situation of the Spanish economy considering together its different economic and institutional aspects, through a mature and critical learning process. Therefore, those who take the subject will be able to carry out rigorous diagnoses of the context in which they live, as well as make decisions and propose strategies in a consistent manner.
These approaches are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of United Nations (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), such as Goal 8, "Decent work and economic growth " and Goal 11, "Sustainable cities and communities" in such a way that the subject provides training and competencies to contribute to some extent to their achievement.

Unit 2. Determinants of growth.

4. Academic activities
In order to achieve the expected results, the following activities are proposed:
- Theoretical classes, 30 hours.
- Practical classes dedicated to exercises and their resolution, 30 hours.
- Personal work (study, readings, elaboration of exercises, attendance to conferences, seminars, visits, etc.), 75 hours.
- Evaluation and tutoring activities, 15 hours.
The teaching methodology is foreseen to be face-to-face. However, if necessary for health reasons, the classes may be taught online.
5. Assessment system
The subject can be passed, in the first call, by means of a global evaluation, with the possibility of releasing a part of the topics by consolidating the grade through weekly tests and exercises during the term. In the second call, the same criteria would be maintained, since the grade derived from that work in the class period would be saved to be averaged in the same way with the grade of the final exam.
Evaluation criteria:
In the two calls, the student may choose to take only a global test of the subject, (in which case, the grade obtained in this exam, up to a maximum of 10 points, will represent one hundred percent of the grade), or, in addition to taking the exam, to take advantage of the work done during the classes, which can represent up to 40% of the grade. In all the calls there will be a global test consisting of two parts:
1. First part: short questions of theoretical content. They will constitute 60% of the final grade. A minimum of 4 out of 10 points is required for this part.
2. Second part: questions of practical content. They will constitute 40% of the final grade. The following criteria will be used in their evaluation:
• Rigor in the development of the contents and correspondence with the questions and issues raised. Precision and clarity of exposition, as well as coherence in the arguments presented.
• Reflective capacity, reflecting a consistent knowledge that relates the contents of the subject with the context in which the questions are posed.
Those who wish may obtain 40% of the practical grade through evaluation based on the completion of exercises and their sharing in class. For those who choose this option, it will not be necessary to take the second part of the global exam (questions of practical content) neither in the first nor in the second call. In each group, each teacher responsible for the group will explain how to carry them out. In the evaluation of these activities, which may be oral or written, the following criteria will be taken into account:
• Presentation, structure and content.
• Accuracy and rigor in the use of subject terminology.
• Depth of analysis, coherence and correct application of the theoretical contents.
• Communication skills.
Students who have obtained a grade in this way will have to choose at the time of the global test if they want to use it (and, therefore, they will only answer to the first part of the exam) or if, on the contrary, they renounce to it (in which case, they will have to take the complete global test, answering to the theoretical and practical part. IN this case, the resulting grade will be weighted in the final grade.
